Q. What is a special country code termination? How do I find out if I'm dialing to a special country code termination?
A.A special country code termination is an international toll number assigned to certain institutions in various destinations. These may include army bases, universities, hospitals, banks and other government institutions. If you’re calling a special country code termination, your call could be billed at a higher rate. Some governments and organizations charge higher fees for these calls.

Q. I have a different company than Yak for my long distance. Can I still use Yak Travel Card?
A.Yes. Yak Travel Card service is available to everyone no matter who their long distance company is - there is no need to switch.

A.Yes. You can use your Yak Travel Card from most anywhere in the United States by simply dialing our toll free access number 1-866-237-4YAK (a $0.05 per minute surcharge applies) and following the voice prompts.

A.Sure. You can use your Yak Travel Card from anywhere in Canada either by dialing one of our local access numbers or by dialing toll-free to 1-866-237-4YAK (a 5¢ per minute surcharge applies) and following the voice prompts.

A.Yes. You can sign-up for as many Travel Cards as you would like but remember that when you order a Yak Travel Card, we’lll send you two wallet copies for your convenience.

Q. Why are Yak's long distance rates so much lower than my local phone company?
A.At Yak, we’re always shopping for the best deal for our customers, maintaining the highest level of quality and service. Yak buys time at a bulk rate from various carriers. We then route your long distance calls for the lowest cost. Yak will always pass the savings on to our customers.

Q. Does a higher rate apply if I call a cell phone using my Yak Travel Card?
A.For calls to Canada and the United States, rates for calling land lines and cell phones are the same. For some countries a higher cellular rate may apply. Click here for a complete list of Yak Travel Card rates.

Q. Is there a connection fee?
A.No. With Yak Travel Card there are no per call connection fees and or monthly fees. A surcharge of 5¢ per minute does apply if you are using our toll free access number or the card's swipe feature in Canada.

Q. Will I ever get a busy signal when I call the Yak Travel Card Access Number?
A.No, you will not get a busy signal when you call the Yak Travel Card toll-free access and/or Canadian local access numbers. We have a state-of-the-art digital switching system that will recognize your PIN and automatically completes your call.

A.You will receive a Yak Travel Card about 7 to 10 business days from the time you place your order.

Q. Do I have to call Yak when I receive my Yak Travel Card?
A.Yes, for security reasons, your Yak Travel Card requires activation prior to use. Simply call our Customer Service Department toll-free at 1-800-490-7235 Monday to Friday 8M to 12AM and Saturday and Sunday from 9AM to 9PM EST.

Q. Is there a charge for receiving a paper invoice?
A.Yes, an administrative charge of $1.95 per month applies if you choose to receive a paper invoice. Help save trees and your money with online billing with Yak. If you're an existing customer, click here to switch to online invoice retrieval.

Q. Are there any taxes or other government fees that I should know about?
A.Your Yak services are subject to both federal (GST) and provincial taxes (in those provinces where such taxes are applicable), with the exception of Yak High Speed Internet service, which is exempt from provincial tax. For more information on taxes or government, please contact our friendly Customer Service Department.

Q. How do you protect my payment information?
A. The information submitted on our web site is protected by the highest level of industry-standard SSL encryption. All of the credit card or chequing account information received by Yak is encrypted and stored on our secure billing servers. -

Q. Do you send a bill before you charge my credit card or process an EFT payment?
A. Yes, you'll always receive your invoice approximately 10 business days before any payments are processed.
