    Q. Can I switch more than one phone line to Yak Long Distance?
    A. There is no limit on the number of phone lines that you sign up with Yak Long Distance Service.  The more lines, the greater your savings.

    Q. Can I register my fax line with Yak Long Distance service?
    A. Yes, Yak Long Distance can be used on either a fax or standard telephone line.

    Q. What happens after I sign up for Yak Long Distance?
    A. Once you've registered, it will take about 3 to 5 business days for your long distance to be switched to Yak. To confirm that you're with Yak, simply dial toll-free 1-700-555-4141 from the phone line you registered. If the message indicates Yak, your Yak Long Distance account is now active.

    Q. What is 1-700-555-4141?
    A.

    1-700-555-4141 is a toll-free number maintained by the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission (or CRTC). When you call 1-700-555-4141 a recorded message informs you of the current long distance carrier for the line called from.

    Q. Do I need to notify my current carrier that I'm switching to Yak?
    A. No, when you sign up for Yak Long Distance, we notify your local carrier of the request and they make the switch, automatically cancelling services with your previous long distance provider.

    Q. Are there any fees or minimum usage requirements with Yak Long Distance?
    A. There are no fees or minimum usage requirements associated with Yak Long Distance.  However, if you choose to receive a paper invoice for your Yak services, an administrative charge of $1.95 does apply.  The fee is waived for customers over 65.  Save trees and money!  Click here to find out about online invoice retrieval.

    Q. What billing increments are used for Yak Long Distance service?
    A. All calls are billed in full one minute increments.  Yak bills its calls by the minute and rounds the length of the call up to the next minute.  For example, if a call lasts for two minutes and 15 seconds, the charge on your bill will be for three minutes.  Click here for a complete list of Yak Long Distance rates.

    Q. Will any long distance charges appear on my local phone bill?
    A. No. With Yak Long Distance you get a monthly invoice from Yak, which you can choose to receive electronically or by standard mail (an administrative charge of $1.95 applies to paper bills mailed).

    Q. What will happen to my current local and long distance service if I register for Yak Long Distance?
    A. There will be no change to your local service, but any long distance services you are currently receiving from other carriers will be cancelled.  With Yak Long Distance, you'll still be able to use dial-around or access number-based services.  At Yak, we don't restrict our customers' choices.

    Q. What happens if I place a call and no one picks up? Will I still be charged for the call?
    A. No.  With Yak Long Distance you will only pay for calls that are connected.  However, it's important to note that connections include those to answering machines and voice mail.

    Q. How do I find out if Yak Long Distance is available to me?

    Q. Is there a charge for receiving a paper invoice?
    A.

    Q. Are there any taxes or other government fees that I should know about?
    A.

    Your Yak services are subject to both federal (GST) and provincial taxes (in those provinces where such taxes are applicable), with the exception of Yak High Speed Internet service, which is exempt from provincial tax. For more information on taxes or government, please contact our friendly Customer Service Department.

    Q. How do you protect my payment information?
    A. The information submitted on our web site is protected by the highest level of industry-standard SSL encryption. All of the credit card or chequing account information received by Yak is encrypted and stored on our secure billing servers.

    Q. Do you send a bill before you charge my credit card or process an EFT payment?
    A. Yes, you'll always receive your invoice approximately 10 business days before any payments are processed.
