Yak launches home phone and high speed internet service offering lower rates and contract-free service
TORONTO – November 5, 2007 – A new competitor in the home phone service and high speed internet market launched today, giving Ontarians more choice and the ability to save as much as 40% per cent on their phone and high speed internet bills. Yak, which is known nationally for its dial-around long distance service, formally launched two new services including: Home Phone, and Yak High Speed Internet. Both services are offered at $34.95 a month and customers are not required to sign any contracts.
“Yak’s new products are designed to give consumers everything they need for their home phone and internet service at truly fair prices without having to lock into restrictive contracts,” said Andrew Boone, VP Marketing, Yak Communications.
“Consumers have told us they are tired of phone and internet bills that creep up with services they don’t need or even understand. Typical rates from other national phone carriers offering similar home phone service range from $40 to $60 per month. Similarly, high-speed internet rates typically range from $40 to $60.
Yak’s new home phone and high-speed Internet services are available in select areas across Ontario. Consumers should call 1-800-490-7235 to see if Yak’s service is offered where they live as not all areas have the infrastructure required to support the service.

For the inclusive price of $34.95, customers can keep their phone number and receive voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, call waiting and conference calling and are under no obligation to sign any contracts.
About Yak High Speed Internet
For the inclusive price of $34.95, customers are offered high-speed Internet access, including a modem, with unlimited downloads and speeds up to 5 mbps. In keeping with other Yak services, customers are under no obligation to sign a contract.
