BRITISH COLUMBIANS TO GET MORE CHOICE IN PHONE MARKET

Yak Home Phone launches offering lower rates and contract-free service

TORONTO – November 5, 2007 –  A new competitor in the home phone service market launched today, giving British Columbians more choice and the ability to save as much as 40% per cent on their phone bills.  Yak Home Phone, introduced by Yak Communications, offers a fully loaded home phone line for $34.95 per month and customers are not required to sign any contracts. 

“Yak Home Phone is designed to give consumers significant savings and freedom from restrictive contracts,” said Andrew Boone, VP Marketing, Yak Communications.  “Consumers have told us they are tired of having to lock in to a contract for several years and tired of phone bills that creep up with services they don’t need or even understand.  Yak Home Phone offers remarkable value especially compared with the rates offers by other phone carriers,” said Boone.  Typical rates from other national phone carriers offering similar service range from $40 to $60 per month. 

Yak’s home phone service is available in select areas across Canada. Consumers should call 1-800-490-7235 to see if Yak’s service is offered where they live as not all areas have the infrastructure required to support the service. 

For the inclusive price of $34.95, customers can keep their phone number and receive voicemail, caller ID, call forwarding, call waiting and conference calling.    Customers wanting to make the switch are not required to sign any contract locking them in.  “Yak’s philosophy is that customers deserve true flexibility from their phone carrier and we’re proud to deliver that,” said Boone.
