If I sign up for Yak Home Phone service, do I need to call my current provider to notify them of the change?
No, we will take care of that for you. As long as you are keeping your exising phone number, your phone provider will be notified by Yak of the change in service.
Are emergency 911 and 711 services available with Yak Home Phone?
Yes. Emergency 911 and 711 services are available to all Yak Home Phone users and no additional charges apply except in the provinces of Quebec, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, PEI, and Saskatchewan where the government has instituted a monthly 911 Tax applicable to land and mobile telephone lines.
Are there any installation or activation charges with Yak Home Phone?
When you port your exisiting telephone number to the Yak network, there are no installation or activation charges. If you choose to pick a new telephone number for your Yak Home Phone there is a $49.95 activation charge. Please call Customer Service at 1.800.490.7235 for more information.
What features are included with Yak Home Phone voicemail?
Yak Home Phone voicemail includes a 1 minute personal greeting, an extended absence greeting, new messages are kept for 21 days, and saved messages are stored for 7 days, ability to re-save expired messages, ability to send messages within the voice messaging system, a 20 message maximum, and a maximum message length of 3 minutes.
What will happen to my existing voicemail if I switch to Yak Home Phone?
When you switch to Yak Home Phone, you will migrate to Yak's voicemail platform and any saved messages or greetings will be lost. You will also be provided with a new password to access your voicemail. All the information that you need will be included in your welcome letter, which you'll receive before the service is activated.

Yes, Yak offers ebilling and you can retrieve your invoice through our Yak Self Care Portal. There, you can view, download, save or print your current and previous invoices, update your contact information, change your billing information such as entering a new credit card number, or add services to your account. Are there any taxes or other government fees that I should know about?
July 1, 2010 in the provinces of Ontario and British Columbia the PST and GST will be combined to create the HST [Harmonized Sales Tax]. The HST is applicable on Yak services. HST will appear on your monthly invoice beginning June 15, 2010. Learn more about the HST through the Canada Revenue Agency. HST is already in effect in the provinces of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, and Newfoundland, Labrador, and Quebec.
